Spring Flowing is a sensor-based interactive digital instrument that explores the relationship between bodily movement, real-time interaction, and generative sound. The project translates performers’ physical input into continuously evolving sonic behaviours, allowing sound to flow naturally through interaction and positioning the instrument between performance and generative processes.
As a digital instrument, Spring Flowing does not rely on fixed musical structures. Instead, it is built around carefully designed mapping relationships that enable sound to emerge and transform through interaction. The performer is not only controlling the sound, but also co-shaping the sonic process with the system, resulting in an open and fluid listening experience.
The project focuses on playability and expressiveness in interactive sound design, investigating how digital instruments can extend the relationship between bodily gesture and sound through sensors and real-time systems. Sound is treated as a dynamic process—one that can be triggered, guided, and experienced through interaction.
