Type: Game Character Sound Redesign
Tools: WWise, Ableton Live
July 2023
The design content mainly includes a Chinese scene -- Cuijou Slope and a game character -- Wanderer
The overall style of the environmental scene sounds should, on one hand, exhibit as much of an Eastern charm as possible, and on the other hand, moderately incorporate unrealistic sound effects to highlight the two-dimensional characteristics of the visuals, presenting a fantastical aspect. Under normal progression within the game, the overall sound should maintain a light and soothing effect, providing players with a quiet and comfortable auditory experience, encouraging them to explore the scene map for as long as possible. During combat, the game sound needs to emphasize elements related to the battle, with the sound atmosphere highlighting tension and oppression, suggesting players to end this state as soon as possible.
The overall sound effect for the Wanderer character should convey a sense of being a Japanese youth with shoes of wooden clogs, a hat similar to a bamboo hat, and ornaments containing metal materials; while reflecting the character's dark side, creating a sense of mystery. In battle, efforts should be made to reflect the character's wind attribute skills, with sound effects being crisp and decisive, and the power of the wind can be represented by boosting the low frequencies for high-damage attacks.
- Location: Liyue Cuijue Slope near the Pyro Regisvine (BOSS) canyon, transitioning from bright to dim, a two-dimensional style canyon.
- Battle: Differentiate the sound changes between approaching the Pyro Regisvine (BOSS) task point and the small monsters in the scene.
- Layers: The environmental atmosphere is represented by abstract, reverberant sounds. The sounds of middle and close scene elements are given precise positioning through Positioning or events to display the authenticity of the open world.
- Emotion: Primarily calm and comfortable, with corresponding intense and impactful adjustments when the player's state changes.
